
The Green Key is a label for environmental management for tourist accommodation run by the Foundation for Environmental Education since 1998. It rewards campsites, hotels, B&B and guest houses for their action in environmental stewardship.
It's the third year we obtain this ecolabel.
To obtain the label, applicants have fulfilled a questionnaire and sent justification documents. Then, they received the visit from a Green Key ambassador.
Lastly, their forms were examined by a national jury.
Criteria to satisfy in order to be rewarded:
Environmental management: projects in the field of environment for the 2 upcoming years, suppliers involvement
Water management: water reduction, reasonable irrigation, monitoring of water consumption
Energy management: energy reduction, monitoring of electricity an energy consumption, economic light bulbs, building isolation, use of renewable energy
Waste management: selective collection, no individual packaging, reducing the volume of wastes
Environmental education: of employees (meetings, instructions) and of guests (encouragement to respect nature and to save energy, water and reduce wastes)
Space and open spaces(for campsites): common areas, low density, car traffic, open spaces
